Taylor Swift Takes Legal Action, Wins Trademark Lawsuit

Taylor Swift prefers a more classy approach to dealing with problems, but when it comes to the legal side of things, the 20-year-old doesn't hold back. Swift has won a court case against 16 individuals whom she claimed violated trademark by selling fake merchandise bearing her name and pictures.

A federal judge in Nashville, Tenn. granted a default judgment last week permanently barring 16 people from both making and selling Taylor Swift merchandise, court documents said.

Swift claimed in the case that her merchandise enforcement team found numerous individuals selling counterfeit goods across the country during her 2009 tour. Among the items were T-shirts with Swift's picture on them.

The court records indicated that the 16 accused individuals had no attorneys listed, and had not responded to the lawsuit. A message left for Swift's attorney Wednesday was not immediately returned.
