Miley Cyrus' Last Song Dad Greg Kinnear Approves of Liam Hemsworth Engagement: "It's Great"

We all know Miley Cyrus' dad Billy Ray approves of her and Liam Hemsworth's engagement.

And now we just found so does Greg Kinnear, aka Miley's father in The Last Song.

"They worked together very well on that movie, but I didn't realize how well when were doing it," Kinnear told me at Toronto Film Festival premiere of his new indie, Writers. "It's great for them. They seem very happy."

Hemsworth popped the question in June with a 3.5-carat diamond ring. While no wedding date has been set, Kinnear didn't have to think twice when asked what he'll be giving them as a present.

"I'll give them a week on Tybee Island," Kinnear said, referring to the Georgia city where they shot the Nicholas Sparks romance drama three years ago. "They can go back to the place where it all started.

"The truth is you can get a hotel there at a very reasonable cost," he joked. "So I keep my expenditures down and I'm extending a nice gift as well."

What a dad!

First comes Adam Shankman, then comes The Last Song, then comes Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's engagement!?

According to Shankman, that is. The Rock of Ages director told People at the Los Angeles premiere of the flick that he's responsible for the couple's soon-to-be union.

Shankman, a producer on The Last Song, joked: "I sort of want a finder's fee for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth…I remember that first day of shooting when they first kissed and Miley walked by my sister [Jennifer Gibgot] after they shot the kissing scene, [and] goes, 'This is gonna work'."

As for why Shankman thinks Miley and Liam are meant for one another? "I'll tell you what's so great. That thing about opposites attract…Their fundamental core values are the same, but he's really mellow and she's really hyper. So it really works together."

So does Adam have any reservations about the young couple taking the leap?

Although he admits "It's extraordinary, and I'm so happy," he is frightened of one thing: "I'm scared at how beautiful those children are going to be."

'The Last Song' EXCLUSIVE DVD Extra: Miley Cyrus Explains Her Love For The Guitar

Have you been missing your daily dose of Miley Cyrus? Well, today you're getting it twofold. Not only is "The Last Song" hitting DVD and Blu-Ray.

Miley's big song to accompany her first non-"Hannah Montana" feature film was called "When I Look At You," and featured Miley on piano instead of guitar (along with her hunky boyfriend Liam Hemsworth). In the clip, Miley speaks with a reporter at the press junket for the film and says that, despite the use of piano in the song, she isn't done with her guitar yet.


"I'm not going to give up my guitar, but I love playing the piano," she said. "I have a song on my record that I play the piano on too, so I just like doing all different kinds of instruments. I love music, so I do it all."

Miley Cyrus Leads Second Wave of 2010 Teen Choice Awards Nominees

Miley Cyrus has collected more nominations for 2010 Teen Choice Awards. After being announced to be up for three noms back in mid-June, the Disney songstress was unraveled to be the young celeb grabbing the most nominations by landing eight more counts as the second wave of nominees was unveiled on Monday, June 28. 

The 17-year-old landed three additional nods for her movie work, two more for hermusic, two others for her fashion style and one for her fans. In movie field, she pocketed Choice Movie: Hissy Fit, Choice Liplock and Choice Chemistry noms for romantic drama "The Last Song". She shared the last two counts with co-star and boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. 

The daughter of country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus also got a chance to win Choice Single and Choice Love Song. Landing the Single nod for "Can't Be Tamed", she is up against B.o.B, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. As for the Love Song, she has to battle it out with Nick Jonas & The Administration, Demi Lovato, Muse andParamore. 

Miley wasn't the only one showing domination at the upcoming annual awards show. "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" and "Glee" have added a slew of nominations to their collection. "New Moon" have grabbed six more nods in the movie field only, while FOX's comedy musical series "Glee" collected seven more just for the TV field. 

"New Moon" stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, will be battling it out with Miley and Liam for Choice Liplock and Choice Chemistry. Meanwhile, their cast members, Kellan Lutz, Dakota Fanning, Ashley Greene and Anna Kendrick, have received a nomination each for Choice Movie Scene Stealer. 

Having received five noms earlier, "Glee" boosted its chance to dominate the TV fields by landing more nods for its cast ensemble. Amber Riley, Chris Colfer andMatthew Morrison are all up for Choice TV Scene Stealer, while Dianna Agron, Kevin McHale and Mark Salling are listed in Choice TV Breakout Star. Mike O'Malley additionally grabbed Choice Parental Unit. 

The 12th Annual Teen Choice Awards will air live on Monday, August 9 at 8:00-10:00 P.M. ET/PT on FOX. Katy Perry will host and perform, while David Archuleta, Miranda Cosgrove, Zac Efron, Victoria Justice and Shailene Woodleyare expected to attend. The first batch of nominees have been announced on June 14, and fans can start cast their votes at TeenChoiceAwards.com.
