Demi Lovato on Upcoming Memoir: "I Have So Much More to Tell"

Demi Lovato has certainly revealed a lot about her past drug and alcohol addictions, confessing to cocaine abuse, among other struggles, that made her choose a life of sobriety.

Turns out, Demi's not done telling her story--will there be more shocking revelations?

She recently chatted backstage at The X Factor, telling Clevver News that she's working on her memoir.

Demi explained why she decided to tell all in her Access Hollywood interview, saying, "I haven't really sat down and done an interview in awhile. I wrote a book, I talked about my addiction struggles but I never got into detail. And I don't think people realized how severe it was."

She added, "That was just a little portion..."

Her second book is going to include more of Demi's life stories, as she said, "I really wanted to start opening up. I have so much more to tell."

As for her New Year's resolution, Demi brings up a good point, saying, "I do a new resolution every day...why wait a year?"

We're definitely looking forward to reading her book!

From Twitter to a book: Demi Lovato tells fans to 'Stay Strong'

Pop star Demi Lovato has grown up in the spotlight. Now she's taking it one step further with a book of affirmations and a planned memoir she says will touch for the first time on her struggle with addiction.

The first in her two-book deal with publisher Macmillan, Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year (Feiwel and Friends) landed at No. 38 on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list after its release Nov. 19. The book evolved from Lovato's inspirational tweets, which she sends out to her more than 20 million followers. And it has an introduction by Katie Couric.

"To me, staying strong is really important. A lot of people have faith, have hope, but now what? How do you continue to be strong? It's about doing things daily and taking care of yourself, and I wanted to show my fans what helped me," Lovato, 21, says from her home in Los Angeles.

Lovato grew up as a regular on the Disney Channel and made headlines when she sought treatment for an eating disorder in 2010. After rehab, she continued to speak out about her struggles with depression and cutting, and she became involved in anti-bullying charities.

Staying Strong "kind of reads my mind a little bit," Lovato says. "Each relates to the day, and just reminds me to be thankful for what I have."

The book's affirmations come with an explanation from Lovato and a goal for the day. Inspirational phrases include:

- "You are beautifully and wonderfully made."

- "One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things."

- "Every life has a purpose. Share your story and you may help someone find their own."

Lovato keeps busy as a judge on the X Factor and actress on Glee (she plays a love interest to character Santana). She says she gets thanks from parents "for being a good influence and role model for their kids."

During this holiday season, she doesn't hesitate when asked what she's thankful for. "It's my fans. They're so supportive."

In the book of affirmations, Lovato touches on her struggle with addiction, writing in one passage: "Self-harm, eating disorders, addiction and mood disorders are things that people aren't always open about. But it's so important that someone starts talking about these issues so that those who are struggling know that there is help out there."

But it's in her forthcoming memoir that she plans to go into detail about addiction.

"I'm nervous to share my story," Lovato says. "But the last time I did, people were really respectful and nobody judged me. Sometimes I have to ask myself, 'How honest do I really want to be with this book?' But I think I'm going to do it. I think I'm going to go for it."

Demi Before Rehab: "I Never Wanted [My Sister] to Follow..."

Have we mentioned that Demi Lovato is a sweetheart? More than a thousand times?

We got to hang with Demi after X Factor's elimination show last night, and she personally gave all of us in the press room a copy of her new book, "Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year."

"There's one for each of you!" Demi said as she sat down and handed them out.

Demi is a lot of things in our book (a singer, an actress, a philanthropist), but we weren't expecting her to pen her own so soon. "It feels amazing because I've always been the type of person that wanted to do everything," she told us. "I want to direct, I want to produce, and I want to create shows." (She'll also be adding co-hosting to her resume pretty soon when she goes to The View next week for five episodes!) With much success in being a singer, an actress and now an author, "I couldn't be more proud of myself actually," the 21-year-old said. "I don't think people say that enough."

After pausing to take a quick bite of her small salad, Demi apologized, "I'm sorry. I haven't eaten dinner," and then quickly corrected herself. "Not that this is dinner! I eat a healthy proportion--I got to clear this s*** up."

Demi, who has been very open about her struggle with an eating disorder, is finally comfortable being perceived an inspiration to others. "I was called a role model the second that I made it in the industry," she said, "and I never felt like one until I started doing the work, started making decisions that I wanted my little sister to be okay with. I never wanted her following in my footsteps by anything that I was doing." Except for one thing: "Maybe changing her hair color because it looks really rad on her! She had purple hair this last summer."

After making changes for the better, "I feel like I'm doing what I'm supposed to do in this world," said Demi. "If it's changing one person's life or just making somebody happy, it ends your day off really well." And that's exactly what her new book is all about. "Try to inspire people and make the world a better place," she said. "Try to help people find their happiness because ultimately happiness is a choice and we all have to stay strong."

Without the detour [into rehab and self-improvement] that Demi took, "I feel like I definitely wouldn't have this book," she said. "I wouldn't even be sitting here today. I wouldn't be alive. That's the harsh reality of it. It's not that I wouldn't have a book or I wouldn't be a judge on a TV show--I wouldn't be alive. At one point nobody thought that I was going to make it, but here I am standing here today. Not only as a judge, but breathing and I have a heartbeat. That's what I'm thankful for."

Don't forget to grab your copy of "Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year" on November 19.
