Set in Minnesota, 1990, detective Bruce Kenner (Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime.

When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.

Emma Watson Gets Back to Work After College Graduation!

Emma Watson is all smiles while filming scenes for her upcoming movie Regression on Thursday (May 29) in Toronto, Canada.

The 24-year-old actress was joined on set that day by her co-star Ethan Hawke.

Emma is back at work just a few days after she became an official graduate of Brown University. She attended the school’s graduation ceremony in her cap and gown alongside the rest of the students over the weekend!

Regression is about a father (Hawke) who is accused of a crime he has no memory of committing.

The actress is celebrating he 24th birthday on the set today!

“First day shooting Regression today – a very cool birthday present ???? xx,” Emma tweeted.

Little is known about Regression, as details are being kept under wraps, but Emma will star alongside Ethan Hawke in the Alejandro Amenabar thriller.

“I am passionate about Alejandro and his work and am so happy to be collaborating with him. I’m really excited by the challenge my character presents to me as an actress… I can’t wait to begin,” Emma said in a statement about the movie.

Emma Watson, Ethan Hawke to make ‘Regression’ in Toronto

Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke will spend the spring in Toronto making the thriller Regression.

Written and directed by Alejandro Amenábar (The Others), the feature is reportedly about a man who is accused of sexually abusing his daughter — a crime he doesn’t remember committing.

Watson will celebrate her 25th birthday on April 15 — the same day production is scheduled to get underway in Toronto. Cameras are set to roll until mid-June.

Watson is best known for playing Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter movies. She went on to star in 2012’s acclaimed The Perks of Being a Wallflower and made a hilarious appearance as herself in last year’s This Is The End opposite Canadians Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel.

In a statement, the British actress said she is a fan of Amenábar. “I’m really excited by the challenge my character presents to me as an actress,” she said. “I can’t wait to begin.”

Hawke, a frequent guest of the Toronto International Film Festival, made 2005’s Assault on Precinct 13 in Toronto and 2004’s Taking Chances in Montreal. The 43-year-old New York-based actor has a summer home in Nova Scotia.

Regression is scheduled to hit theatres on Aug. 28, 2015.

Emma Watson Joins Ethan Hawke In Upcoming Thriller 'Regression'

Emma Watson is continuing to build her career as an adult actress, moving on from the end of the Harry Potter franchise that made her a star, and today she's secured yet another upcoming project. TWC-Dimension has announced today that the the young star has now signed a deal to star in Regression, a new thriller that will see her paired up with Ethan Hawke.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first revealed the casting news, the plot of the film is being kept a closely guarded secret for now, but it will be based on a script and directed by Alejandro Amenabar, the filmmaker who scared the crap out of audiences with his 2001 Nicole Kidman-starring horror movie The Others

Regression will be Amenabar's return to the thriller/horror genre after moving away to make 2004's The Sea Inside with Javier Bardem and 2009's Agora with Rachel Weisz. Production on the new project will begin this year with The Weinstein Company targeting a release date some time in 2015 (though a specific date has not yet been announced).

Watson had an interesting year last year, mixing up both starring and supporting roles. She first worked Sofia Coppola to tell the true story of thieving teenagers in Beverly Hills starring in the crime dramedy The Bling Ring, and then she had what could be described as an extended cameo in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's This Is The End, playing an axe wielding, apocalypse surviving version of herself. Next up she will be part of the all star cast featured in Darren Aronofsky's Noah
