Amanda Seyfried lost out on the role of Glinda in the upcoming Wicked movies, but she’s giving fans a peek at what her Glinda might have been like.
The 37-year-old actress sang a snippet of the song “Popular” in a video that was posted to Instagram by her longtime fashion stylist Elizabeth Stewart.
“Congratulations to @mingey for her #GoldenGlobe for her incredible performance as Elizabeth Holmes in @thedropouthulu! And she may be goofing around here on set but YES she can sing! She missed picking up her Globe in person because she’s working on a musical in NY!” Elizabeth captioned the video.

Last year, Amanda opened up about her audition process for Wicked.
“I have dreams that I’m still auditioning for Wicked,” Amanda told Backstage. “Last summer while I was playing Elizabeth [Holmes on The Dropout], on the weekends I was auditioning in person to play Glinda in the movie version of Wicked — because I wanted it that much that I was like, ‘You know what? Yeah, I have to play the last scene of The Dropout on Tuesday. I’ll give my Sunday to you.’ I literally bent over backwards while playing the hardest role of my life.”
She added, “But I think it also taught me how far I’ve come as a singer, which I really wanted to prove. Because ever since Les Mis, I was like, I need to be better. I need to do better. So whatever comes next in terms of musicals, I’m finally prepared.”
Amanda lost out on the role to Ariana Grande.
“It was devastating,” she told Porter. “And it wasn’t for any other reason than I really felt like it was right. But that doesn’t take away from my confidence at all.”
Amanda is working on an exciting musical project right now for the stage!
