Emma Watson 'The Little Mermaid' Casting Report Is A Hoax From Last Year

Rumours circulating online suggesting Emma Watson has been cast in a live-action remake of The Little Mermaid are not even slightly true.

The story was created by a Harry Potter fansite on April 1, 2013 as an April Fools joke that has enjoyed a random resurgence in recent days.

The rumours even claim that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma's Harry Potter co-star, is slated to play Prince Eric. This too is bogus.

Watson has, however, been linked to two stories with Disney links.

She will be in Guillermo del Toro's Beauty And The Beast re-telling, and she was also rumoured to be starring in a Kenneth Branagh-led revival of Cinderella - but she turned that role down.

The former project, however, is expected to start production soon after a long line of delays.

"[Del Toro] always has so many things he's working on at once," she said last month. "So we're still putting together." There is no word at the moment on who will play the Beast.

In the mean-time, she's set to be seen in a re-telling of the Noah's Ark story, entitled Noah, later this year.

She will be joined by Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Russell Crowe, Douglas Booth, Anthony Hopkins and Revenge star Barry Sloane.
