Pharrell Williams 'To Work With One Direction'

One Direction are reportedly set to team up with hitmaker Pharrell Williams on a song for their new album.

According to The Mirror, The N.E.R.D frontman - who collaborated on this year's megahits Daft Punk's Get Lucky and Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines - is in talks to pen a song for 1D's upcoming third studio album, Midnight Memories.

Speaking at last week's GQ Men of the Year Awards, Pharrell said: "We are definitely talking. From what I've heard of their new stuff I'm pleasantly surprised.

"Their new stuff is definitely a progression and an elevation. I will hopefully be getting involved as we are definitely in talks."

Williams had nothing but praise for the 1D boys, saying: "I don't think some people realise how hard those boys work. There is so much more that goes into One Direction than just the band."

He added: "They are a brand and are huge. They are incredibly hard-working. I'm sure it will excite our female fans if we're on a record together."

Midnight Memories is set for release on 25 November, and the album will also feature a track written by McFly.
