Miley Cyrus says she's far from the good girl Disney portrayed: 'I've never been able to hide anything, a bit like Justin Bieber'

Lately there's been plenty to say about Miley Cyrus and her twerking ways. But the singer herself admitted she's "messed up."

The 20-year-old former Disney Channel star recently raised eyebrows when she dirty danced against Robin Thicke during their performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25.

"I'm messed up … I have so many f---ing issues," she told Britain's Sunday People newspaper.

"I don't have a normal life," she added. "I take a hiatus every now and again but I'm not good at that."

Cyrus first came on the scene as the bright eyed, innocent "Hannah Montana" but she confessed she's never been like the clean-cut character Disney created.

"During 'Hannah Montana' I think people knew I was acting," she said. "I've never been able to hide anything, a bit like Justin Bieber."

Now that she's coming into her own womanhood, the "We Can't Stop" singer is going full throttle with her bad girl image and said that's more like who she is than any good girl persona previously portrayed on television.

"Others who have been on kids shows try to act like their characters - but I'm not like that," Cyrus said.

From twerking and tongue flicking to wearing nearly nude outfits, like her racy photos for Notion magazine, the former child star is shedding any resemblance of innocence she once held on to.

"I never pretended I was as good as the Disney Channel writes," she said. "You will be amazed at some of the notes I got."

She added that people reacted to her bad girl ways even while she was on Disney: "Parents wrote in with messages saying things like, 'I can't believe she spoke to her dad like that' or 'I can't believe she wore that shirt' or 'I can't believe the lead actress has boobs.' It's crazy. But they can't make people not grow up."
