Niall Horan apparently refused Selena Gomez's phone number when her BFF Taylor Swift tried to set the couple up back when the I Knew You Were Trouble singer was dating Horan's bandmate Harry Styles.
Selena and her romance with Justin Bieber hit the rocks last November when he was linked to Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin, before eventually breaking up in late December but despite Swifty's alleged eagerness for the Come And Get It star to hook up with the blonde Irishman, it seems Niall feared annoying BFF Bieber.
The Kiss You singer is a huge fan of Justin's with the pair hanging out and tweeting regularly and he didn't want to start "a war" with him over Gomez, the report claims.
"Not only are they friends, but Niall's keen to avoid any trouble with Justin," a source told Now magazine at the time. "He knows dating Selena could've prompted a war with Justin."
Back in November however insiders claimed a romance didn't get off the ground because Selena just wasn't Niall's type.
"Niall and Selena are friendly with each other, but they don’t want to date each other," a source told SugarScape.
"They’re not attracted to each other. And if they were attracted to each other (but they’re not), Niall wouldn’t want to hurt his friendship with Justin by dating Selena. Niall still has a crush on Demi Lovato, who’s been Selena’s friend for a long time. He wouldn’t ruin his chances with Demi by dating Selena."
Well it's a good job he didn't as 'Jelena' are said to be back on after the couple were spotted getting friendly in Oslo last month.
