She put on a brave face while performing her new song Ronan last night at the third annual Stand Up to Cancer Telethon.
But Taylor Swift could not contain her tears as she exited the Shrine Auditorium, and the 22-year-old was seen wiping her misty eyes as she walked hand-in-hand with her concerned mother Andrea Finlay.
Wearing a red floral dress worthy of the ladies who lunch, Swift was all smiles before the performance, waving at fans outside the auditorium.
But the six-time Grammy winner couldn't help but be moved by the emotionally-charged song, which was a tribute to a three-year-old boy who lost his battle to neuroblastoma last year.
Taylor was inspired to pen the tragic track after reading a blog post from Ronan's mother Maya Thompson, who has a co-writing credit on the song.
But the tears were worth it as Ronan and her other song We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together currently hold the two top spots of the iTunes Top 10 chart.
All the proceeds of the song will go to cancer-related charities.
Aside from Swift, the star-studded event attracted Justin Timberlake, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Robert Pattinson.
Gwyneth paired a grey Stand up to Cancer T-shirt with a summery skirt, showing off her bronzed legs, while Robert Pattinson went for a more casual look.
Alicia Keys and Coldplay also performed and teen Olympian Gabby Douglas spent time manning the phones.
Last week, the country pop star closed the MTV Video Music Awards with her song, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.
She ended her anthem with a rock chick stage dive into the Staples Center crowd.
Taylor has also been nominated for three Country Music Awards, including one for Best Female Vocalist.
Not seen at the event was her 18-year-old boyfriend Conor Kennedy.
The singer's toyboy is busy hitting the books at Deerfield Academy.
The stunning songstress is said to be 'already a part of' Conor's family, even accompanying him to visit his mother's grave after she passed away in May.
After their whirlwind summer romance, the pair will not get to see much of each other thanks to Taylor's hectic touring and album promotion schedule.
In the next week, the blonde starlet will perform the Canadian Country Music Awards and a show in Rio de Janeiro, but Kennedy's schoolmates are reportedly also requesting a concert from the crooner.
'We have a Friday night concert thing – one is in late fall,' the source told People Magazine. 'People want her to come sing.'
