Demi Lovato has revealed how she broke down on New Year's Eve during her stint in rehab.
The actress and singer faced up to her issues with self-harming, bipolar and an eating disorder after admitting to punching a member of her crew whilst on tour in 2010.
She then spent the holiday season in treatment, and has been spending the last year openly discussing her ongoing recovery.
Revisiting the Timberline Knolls centre in Illinois, she said: "We got to watch the countdown on New Year's Eve in here, and by the time it hit one, I just started sobbing like, 'I can't believe I'm bringing in the New Year in rehab."
The 'Skyscraper' singer's story is told in one-off documentary Stay Strong, due to air in the US on MTV tonight (March 6).
She says: "The first time that I walked into Timberline Knolls, I sat there to eat my first meal, and it was chicken, rice, vegetables and milk, and I took like two or three bites of the chicken and was like 'OK, I'm done'.
"That's when I realised maybe I do belong here because I can't finish a meal."
Demi releases her third album Unbroken in the UK on April 2.
