Selena Gomez Halts Music Career, Returns To Acting

Disney actress turned pop star, Selena Gomez, has decided to put a halt on her successful career as a recording artist to return to acting.

Gomez rose to super stardom after starring as wizard Alex Russo on ‘Wizards Of Waverly Place.’ Like most Disney television innovations, Gomez was given a spot singing songs for the show’s soundtrack. Her singing career expanded with Disney to include the ’101 Dalmations’ soundtrack. After appearing in ‘Wizards,’ Gomez subsequently starred in a ‘Wizards’ feature film, ‘Princess Protection Program,’ ‘Ramona & Beezus,’ and ‘Monte Carlo.’ ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ is still in its run of original episodes, with seasons spanning 15-20 months.

She began to turn her focus toward her recording career in 2009. Gomez produced a string of hit songs in 2010 along with her band The Scene. Her hit singles include “Magic,” “Falling Down,” “Say What” and “A Year Without Rain.” Gomez found herself in the spotlight through much of 2011 after she began dating Canadian teen pop star Justin Bieber.

While many Hollywood stars find sudden fame intimidating, the 19-year-old admits that she is not afraid of fame and all that it entails.

“You get recognised occasionally, but I’m not scared of that,” she said. People assume it’s awful.”

“Next year I’ll be starting to do more acting, I’ll be doing two films in the beginning,” she continued.

Gomez then went on to say that she will attempt to return to singing after doing the two films or attempt to balance both careers simultaneously.
