Selena Gomez has opened up about finding love following her split from boyfriend of two years Justin Bieber earlier this year, with the gorgeous brunette admitting she's finding it hard to trust men.
The Spring Breakers star might be one of the hottest babes on the planet, but that doesn't mean she's finding dating easy and claimed trusting people is her biggest problem.
“It makes you more wary sometimes about meeting people, because you don’t know whether they want to get close to you because of what you do," she told The Sun, "or because they really like your company and just want to hang out with you."
It's unclear why exactly the teen dream couple split, though the pair were plagued by claims Bieber may have cheated on the actress. He was reportedly left in the doghouse after spending time with supermodel Barbara Palvin last November following his performance at the Victoria's Secret fashion show in New York, with the couple splitting a month later in late December.
Hinting that she may have been hurt in the past, she went on: “I’m a big romantic and I want to be very open and trusting, but you need to protect yourself."
But claiming she's not one to mess around, she went on: "I’d love to have a great boyfriend but I’m not really looking for one." Gomez is making the difficult transition from Disney star to adult actress, with her role in controversial movie Spring Breakers, which includes threesomes, drugs use and guns a noticeable break from her cleancut image.
Admitting she was taking a step out her "comfort zone," this year, the 20 year-old claimed she'd already prepared her fan's parents for some more grown up activity.
“I’ve done my best to warn the parents. I’ll be 21 this year so for me, it’s been refreshing to step outside of my comfort zone and do things I didn’t think I could as an actress," she added.
“I do my music, my clothing line and everything else for my fans, so as long as I make sure they’re warned about a film being for those 18 and older, why not?”
Her comments come amid reports she's considering getting back with her former beau. According to E! News he spent an hour at her home last Thursday before heading back to Europe on his Believe tour, sparking speculation of a reunion.
