Christina Aguilera‘s Stripped is turning 20.
Believe it or not, the 41-year-old “Dirrty” diva’s groundbreaking album arrived on October 22, 2002. Following her self-titled debut in 1999, the LP reintroduced the pop princess to the masses as an artist with range and a voice capable of making the world move.
The era signified a creative rebirth and pushed boundaries musically and stylistically. Think about the chaps alone, which have become a signature look still referenced years later.
Twenty years later, the project has inspired a new generation of artists including the likes of Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus. It also holds a special place in Christina‘s heart.
“Stripped gave me the strength and freedom as an artist to tell my story the way I wanted, for the first time,” she reflected about the project on Instagram ahead of the anniversary.
