Britney Spears Calls Out Catholic Church in Santa Monica for Not Letting Her Have Her Wedding There

Britney Spears is giving fans a look at her dream wedding venue.

On Tuesday (August 2), the 40-year-old performer revealed that she had initially planned on getting married to her husband Sam Asghari in a Catholic church, but was not permitted as she was not a practicing member.

She shared a photo of the inside of the church – which the Daily Mail identified as St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, California – during an unknown couple’s wedding, writing: “This is where I originally wanted to get married during COVID 👰🏼‍♀️ !!!!”

“I wanted to go every Sunday… It’s beautiful and they said it was temporarily shut down due to COVID!!!!” she continued. “Then 2 years later when I wanted to get married there they said I had to be [Catholic] and go through TEST!!!!”

Britney concluded by asking her followers, “Isn’t church supposed to be open to all 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️⛪️ ????”

Fans reacted to her post in the comments, with some praising her while others defended the church.

Britney coming for the church. Iconic,” one user commented, while another argued, “Giiiirrll this is a MESS! To get married in the Catholic Church yes you have to be catholic it’s not just a random venue.”

Despite Britney‘s post, it seems like everything worked out for her wedding to Sam back in June. The pair were married in an intimate ceremony held at her home in California, with guests like Madonna, Paris Hilton, Drew Barrymore, Selena Gomez and Donatella Versace in attendance.
