Liam Payne to Thank For Return of Burger King's Chicken Fries?

Burger King Chicken Fries Liam PayneNo doubt about it, the One Direction guys have some major influence. We're not saying Harry Styles contributed entirely to SeaWorld seeing a drop in attendance, but his comment to fans, telling them not to visit the aquatic theme park, certainly played a part.

Now Liam Payne is getting credit for the return of a Burger King favorite: chicken fries. And we thought they brought them back just because.

Last year, Liam tweeted: "I'm so fulllllll!!! Think I just ate my body weight in chicken fries and sides owwwwww"

Turns out he was actually talking about KFC, as he posted a pic of a KFC bag, writing: "Now I may not be gay but I am in love with a man ... 2 words the kernel god bless you and your original recipe"

So...he wasn't even talking about Burger King at all?

Turns out, BK was paying attention, even though Liam was tweeting about KFC and likely left out some pesky punctuation between 'chicken' and 'fries.'

That's close enough for Burger King, who are wisely using Liam's fame to their advantage a bit.

A Burger King representative said in an email: "Whatever he meant, it certainly helped catapult 'Chicken Fries' into pop culture consciousness as a follow up to the Buzzfeed story [about nostalgic foods]."
