Rumors spreading that Katy Perry wrote a song called “1984,” which most people assumed to be about her feud with Taylor Swift, are not true.
The 30-year-old singer’s team has released a statement to squash all of the rumors that are spreading after the song was reportedly registered to the music-licensing organization BMI under her name.
“Katy Perry’s managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false,” the singer’s rep told Billboard. “Katy was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song.”
