Sam Smith wasn't at the Billboard Music Awards to personally accept his win for Top Male Artist, but his acceptance speech totally won the night.
As fans know, Sam couldn't attend the event because he needs vocal surgery (sadface). He couldn't even talk for his acceptance speech, but had a pretty great way of handling it - putting his hilarious thoughts down on cards and revealing some pretty great shout outs to his peers (after thanking Billboard and the fans, of course!).
Sam was definitely there in spirit, giving some love to Taylor Swift, mentioning Nicki Minaj's butt (lol) and lining up something special for pal Ed Sheeran - a dance at Chippendale's!
