It's been almost three weeks since Zayn Malik left One Direction, and there are still several news articles being published about his departure. The websites hot on the Z-beat are mainly based in the United Kingdom: Flynet, The Sun and Daily Mail. That's probably because Zayn left the world's biggest boy band because of "stress" and then took his girlfriend and family to France for a luxury vacation. (If I were Zayn, I would be laying low for a while to get out of the celeb spotlight to have a normal life.) Also confusing is that he was spotted at the studio and now he's not really active on Twitter. Whatever.
About two weeks ago, comedian Bill Maher compared Zayn to convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on his HBO show, Real Time With Bill Maher. I feel like this should be brought to national attention because so many people make racist remarks about the Muslim community, saying that they're terrorists. Not all Muslims are terrorists. This needs to be talked about more, and Bill did on his show, claiming that his intent was misunderstood.
Still, I think there needs to be a public discussion about this and how there needs to be rules about what can be said on primetime television. Change.org even launched a petition. I believe people need to sign it, so Bill and other media personalities realize that these jokes can't be made anymore.
