Big news — Ian McKellen has been cast in Disney’s live-action version Beauty and the Beast , according to Variety .
The 75-year-old actor will be playing the role of Cogsworth, the butler who was turned into a clock.

Ian joins the cast which currently consists of Emma Watson , Daniel Stevens , Luke Evans , Josh Gad , Emma Thompson , Audra McDonald , and Kevin Kline .
The film will be released in 3D on March 17, 2017 and production is set to begin in May at Shepperton Studios in London.
