On Monday night, Taylor granted Jalene Salinas' final wish, chatting with the family for 20 minutes on a call via FaceTime. Her mother told People magazine that her daughter was having a bad day that day, and was unable to attend a benefit to raise funds for her medical expenses.
"She woke up not being able to walk and she's very unstable, but she's still responding and she's still able to talk," her mom said. Every now and then Jalene would ask her, "Mom, do I get to dance with Taylor today?"
Her family wasn't sure if they'd hear from T-Swift, but their community was trying hard on social media to make it happen. And it did!
"I'm so sorry you're having a bad night," Taylor said during their call. "I'm so happy you like 'Shake It Off.' "
"You look beautiful tonight, you really do," she added. "You're just as pretty as your pictures."
Taylor said sent her team on a mission to contact Jalene as soon as she got back from London and heard about the wish. "Everyone in the car with me is crying right now," Taylor said on the call.
Jalene created a message for Taylor shortly after their talk, saying in a thank-you video posted online afterward. "Love y'all."
