In a new interview with Rolling Stone , Noel pulled no punches about One Direction, saying: "I know Harry Styles. We've hung out a couple of times. They're lovely lads. But I've got to say, I have difficulties with people who don't write their own songs, who've got a team of songwriters who work for your record label."
He added, "Modern pop music is bland nonsense. There isn't even a word yet that's capable of describing it. If it was a color, it would be beige...It's like a milky brown. Not for me."
As for Taylor, Noel isn't all that impressed with the mention that she's a talented songwriter. He asked, "Who says that? Her parents?" When it was mentioned "lots of people" think that, he fired back: "Who's 'people?' Name these people. You're f**king lying. She seems like a nice girl, but no one has ever said those words, and you f**king know it."
Ouch.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Vogue , Noel chatted about his thoughts on fashion and veered into a little rant on Maroon 5, saying: "As long as the music's good, nobody cares about what you f**king wear. D'you know what I mean? If your songs are OK, then your songs will seem better if you look good - like those f**kwits from Maroon 5. The tattoos take your mind off the fact that they're s**t. OK? Right? But with Oasis, it was 'God those f**kin' songs are great.' It's all about the music."
Sounds like Noel is tough to impress.
