If you were not impressed by Kanye West's Grammys stunt, you are not alone. When the rapper went on stage to 'pull a Kanye' and interrupt Beck during his 'Album of the Year' acceptance speech the same way he did to Taylor Swift at the VMAs back in 2009, everyone thought he was kidding. He HAD to be kidding, right?! Nope...
During the E! Afterparty show, Kanye clarified his intentions when he walked up on stage and there is absolutely nothing funny about it. "I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us," he said. "We ain't gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should've given his award to Beyonce."
Beck sort of brushed the whole thing off, but Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson had something to say about it and her thoughts, which she posted on Facebook, have already bene "shared" over 21,000 times.
In the post (below), Shirley slams the rapper saying HE'S the one disrespecting artistry. "You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt. In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own.
Grow up and stop throwing your toys around," she writes.
In a brilliant conclusion, she points out that Beyonce seems to have things pretty well covered and doesn't need anyone fighting her battles for her. Thanks, but no thanks...
