The Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Celebration telecast did wonders for NBC on Sunday (February 15)!
The show’s 40th anniversary episode was the network’s top-rated primetime telecast, besides from post-Super Bowl programs, since the Will & Grace series finale, which aired over eight years ago.
The thee-and-a-half hour Sunday special, which garnered 23.1 million viewers, easily beat out the network’s huge showing in 2013 for The Sound of Music Live, starring Carrie Underwood , Stephen Moyer , and Audra McDonald .
