Did Ed Sheeran finally confirm that it was Niall Horan who hooked up with ex-girlfriend Ellie Goulding ? While plenty of interviewers have tried to find out who the song "Don't" is about, Ed has mostly stayed mum. That is, until Howard Stern started asking.
During a recent interview on Howard's radio show, the shock jock asked some questions about the tune that tells the story of a girlfriend cheating on Ed with one of his friends - in the same hotel, no less. It's widely rumored that the song is about Ellie Goulding, and there's been plenty of buzz that Niall was the guy in the song.
Howard cut straight to the chase, asking Ed if it was a guy from One Direction. Ed's response? "I mean, the papers say a lot of things," he said, adding, "I've kept my mouth shut about a lot of things, because I think if you add any fuel to any fire..."
While Ed maintains that he wasn't "upset," but "just pissed off," he did think it was "a bit disrespectful" to break the bro code. Calling the guy out on the matter, he admits, was "a difficult conversation to have...He was my mate, so I was a bit like, 'Not cool, but...'"
Howard tried one last attempt to squeeze the guy's name out of Ed, asking, "That was the guy in One Direction, right?" Ed joked, "Well, it depends which one you're talking about."
Um...? So Niall then?
