Liam Payne posts Pharrell selfie and wears the star's trademark Buffalo hat

Ever since Pharrell Williams wore the brown Vivienne Westwood Buffalo hat to the Grammys in January, it's been popping up all over the place - and not just on Pharrell's head.

Gavin and Stacey star James Corden wore one as he presented the Brit awards in February.

Homer Simpson was seen wearing one in the Simpsons.

It even has its own Twitter account with nearly 20,000 followers.

And now heartthrob One Direction singer Liam Payne has posted a selfie on his Instagram account modelling the head gear himself.

Alongside the shot, he wrote: "Gone for a Pharrell tonight."

The 20-year-old set off the Buffalo hat with a simple white T-shirt and his smoldering brown eyes.

He posted the selfie as the fab fivesome continued their Where We Are world tour, which has seen them perform across the US and South America and is now in Europe.

Happy singer Pharrell - who recently swapped the hat for a feather head piece - has spoken of his surprise that it has become such a sensation.

"I was just wearing a hat," the cool rapper said. "Some people like it and some people are like 'what is that?'. At the end of the day I feel good if I'm expressing myself."

Here's a clip of the moment it all began - Pharrell performing at the Grammys below.
