Ansel Elgort can't seem to stop talking about his onscreen girlfriend Shailene Woodley, even after "The Fault In Our Stars" release date.
Elgort, 20, revealed that chemistry between him and 22-year-old Woodley was already established before playing teenage lovers Hazel Lancaster and Augustus "Gus" Waters in John Green's emotional film adaption.
"It was actually helpful that we got to know each other on Divergent, so it wasn't a problem," the actor said, according to Yahoo Movies.
Just in case you didn't know [which would be a surprise], Woodley and Elgort play brother and sister Tris and Caleb in the "Divergent" series. The movie filmed before "TFIOS."
"This relationship between Gus and Hazel, it's so important that it's authentic and real and they do feel like they are real friends and they have that chemistry," Elgort continued. "You should root for them to be together and have this love, and if, in real life these two people don't have any connection, it's just two actors going through the motions and being very boring."
Obviously, it wasn't boring for Woodley and Elgort. Their chemistry was oozing out of the screen, along with ample amounts of tears from all the moviegoers.
Elgort continued his talk about him and his bestie's chemistry.
"So I think because we met in Chicago and did Divergent, Shailene and I became close, became friends and got to know each other. When we did this movie, we were already really close friends and we were able to play off each other and feel comfortable," he said, adding, "We have little inside jokes that we could have inside our eyes during the scene, and that helps to make it real and authentic."
Welp Elgort, it was definitely real and authentic! Also, the two actors share chemistry off-screen as well, which helps.
Woodley and Elgort are back to playing brother and sister in the next "Divergent" movie, "Insurgent" coming out in theaters in 2015.
