Remember that One Direction fanfic that they're making a movie out of? Well, turns out the author of After is getting a book deal too. She's living the dream of every fan fiction writer out there. Crazy, right?
Anna Todd, who wrote After on Wattpad, has secured a huge six-figure publishing deal with Simon & Schuster, who are buying the rights to the fanfic featuring a Harry Styles-type character.
Look for After to be available in both print and e-book editions in November 2014, with the other two installments of the trilogy coming out in January and March 2015.
Acquiring editor Adam Wilson tells PublishersWeekly, "The book is very long, so we'll edit it down and get to the core of the story. We're committed to keeping the story people know but we want to reach traditional readers as well."
He added, "[Publishing this quickly] is not for every book but we have lots of fan-fiction writers and we're familiar with the Wattpad community. We've learned to publish quickly when it comes to self- published authors."
