One Direction's Zayn Malik inspired All-New Ghost Rider design

One Direction's Zayn Malik was the inspiration for the All-New Ghost Rider design.

Marvel Comics editor Mark Paniccia told The Sun (via Heatworld) that he pictured Robbie Reyes as a "beefier version" of Malik.

"Physically strong, with a quiet, troubled expression, kind of boyish," he added.

Paniccia briefed series creators Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore on his vision for the Malik likeness.

Malik is a self-proclaimed comic book fan, having recently visited Marvel Studios. He also sports a 'zap!' tattoo on his arm.

The character was portrayed by Nicolas Cage in two films.

All-New Ghost Rider #1 has been delayed until March 26 due to a printing/distribution issue.
