Miley Cyrus gives hints about her upcoming ‘Bangerz’ tour at press conference

Miley Cyrus won’t just be singing — and presumably twerking — for fans on her upcoming “Bangerz” tour. She’ll be giving them personalized objects they can take home.

“I’m a little bit of a hoarder,” the star said in a telephone press conference Wednesday. “So I hope my fans become hoarders. I want to give them real things they can collect. I’ll have things falling out of the sky that most people would sell at the merch table.”

Cyrus offered this and other small teases about her tour during a half-hour press talk. She only answered questions selected by her publicist, who kept the queries feather-light.

The star did offer some specifics about her show, which debuts on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, in Vancouver. It arrives in the New York area April 3 at the Izod Center in the Meadowlands, April 5 at Barclays Center and April 24 at Nassau Coliseum.

Cyrus said the show will last 90 minutes and will feature lots of animals, though many will be “imaginative, not real,” she noted.

The stage imagery will include lots of “kitties in space,” in a reprise of her surreal use of a huge one at MTV’s World Music Awards in Amsterdam last fall.

Other animated images will come from artist John K, the brains behind Ren & Stimpy. “His art is driving a lot of the tour,” Cyrus said.

For costumes, the star will sport outfits designed by Marc Jacobs and Jeremy Scott, and some vintage Bob Mackie pieces. “He’s one of my biggest inspirations,” the singer said.

Cyrus’ repertoire will concentrate on the new “Bangerz” album, along with some old hits and plenty of covers. There also will be a lengthy acoustic section.

Cyrus stressed that the show won’t be overly choreographed, to leave room for spontaneity. However, she did promise it will open and close with major props and stunts. Even so, she said the tour will counter the common view of her as just a shock-meister. “At the end of the day,” she said, it’s about the “voice.”
