Just look at these two!
Celebrity stylist Johnny Wujek gave everyone a fun trip down memory lane while participating in #ThrowbackThursday on Instagram today, courtesy of Taylor Swift , Miley Cyrus and their precious, young teenage years.
"#tbt Grammys backstage. When they were babies. @mileycyrus@taylorswift#blackgowns," Wujek captioned the photo, which had the two singers posing together in matching black gowns.
It was the 2009 Grammys, to be exact, long before foam fingers, shaved haircuts and twerking became the center of Miley's universe, and sequin mini dresses became T.Swift's go-to ensemble.
As if that wasn't a great enough blast from the past, the duo did an interview with Ryan Seacrest at the Grammys that year, and couldn't stop gushing about one another. Miley explained that they were each other's dates, and shared that they really are the best of friends. Aw!
Alas, much has changed in the last four years—mainly with Miley, because, let's be real, Taylor pretty much looks the same—but even though the Wrecking Ball singer's long, brown locks have vanished and Taylor's opted to ditch her curls for a sleek straight look lately, there is one thing that remains the same, and that's their friendship.
Swift and Miley don't pose for the camera nearly as much as they used to, but that doesn't mean they don't have each other's back. It seemed like Taylor came to Cyrus' defense when the young singer's controversial VMA performance began making headlines.
"There's room for role models who make mistakes," Swift confessed. "There's clearly room for role models who are made fun of at award shows, not that I necessarily enjoy being poked fun at! But that's gonna happen to them too."
Unfortunately, when it comes to fans, it's a different story.
The Bangerz singer hopped on Twitter to share her thoughts on her critics, specifically calling out fans of Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift who bash her. She also encouraged her own followers to stamp out hateful agendas.
"Everyday someone with a Swift or Gomez in [their] name wishes terrible things upon me (death is popular)," she wrote, adding, "Please Smilers don't ever think somehow you are supporting me by being hateful towards other artist. My fans make me proud by supporting my music & everything I do."
"Im sure these haters would make their idols much happier tweeting bout their music rather than wishing death upon their peers like psychos," the 21-year-old tweeted.
