Robbie Williams beats One Direction to Christmas albums No.1

Robbie Williams has beaten One Direction to score this year's Christmas number one album.

The singer's second swing LP Swings Both Ways has fought off competition from One Direction's Midnight Memories and Gary Barlow's Since I Saw You Last to spend a third week at the top of the chart.

Swings Both Ways beats Midnight Memories to number one by less than 200 copies, with both records selling over 126,000 copies this week.

Barlow's Since I Saw You Last is at number three after selling more than 116,000 copies in the last seven days.

Olly Murs sticks at four with Right Place, Right Time and Beyonce's self-titled studio album remains at five after its first full week on sale.

Ellie Goulding's Halcyon Days re-release is at number six, while Celine Dion rises one place to number seven with Loved Me Back To Life.

Michael Bublé has two albums in this week's Top 10, with To Be Loved at eight and Christmas at nine.

The Killers are this week's highest climbers, with their greatest hits compilation, Direct Hits, up 15 places to number ten on this week's countdown.
