Why did Miley Cyrus cancel her New Year's Eve appearance in Miami to instead perform in NYC during the Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest show?
According to Ryan Seacrest, the 21-year-old "Wrecking Ball" singer couldn't pass up the chance to take over Times Square for the end-of-the-year holiday."
A couple weeks ago I ran into her and I said, ‘All right, this has been your year,'" Seacrest told E! News recently at Z100's 2013 Jingle Ball in NYC. "'You've got so much going for you, a lot of buzz. You've gotta perform in Times Square right before midnight.' And she said, ‘OK, I'm in.'"
Seacrest says Cyrus won't be getting anywhere near the ball when it drops, à la her infamous "Wrecking Ball" music video.
"This is a ball she cannot touch," he smiled. "This one she cannot. She's not allowed to. But she can be standing under it when it goes down, when it drops."
"I don't know what to expect from her," he added. "We've seen so many wild performances all year. This one is outside and the temperature's very cold generally. So we shall see."
Also at Jingle Ball in NYC was Enrique Iglesias, who tells us he'd love to work with Cyrus on some music.
"Miley would be cool," he gushed. "I love her music and I think what she's done lately has been great. There's a lot of controversy with what she's done lately, but you gotta admit the song's are good and she's a great performer, a great singer, a great artist."
In addition to her New Year's Eve plans, Cyrus also booked another gig recently. She'll be hosting the premiere of Beacher's Madhouse with showman and club founder Jeff Beacher at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Dec. 27.
