One Direction star Niall Horan 'says yes to plans for museum to be built in his honour'

One Direction star Niall Horan has said yes to plans by the local council in his home town to build a museum in his honour.

How much history can be told about the 19-year-old's life is yet to be seen - but the project in Mullingar, County Westmeath in the Republic of Ireland, is causing significant excitement locally.

Local councillor Aidan Davitt told the Sun that Horan regularly promotes his home town around the world, and that the star said he supported the initiative, as did his mother.

"Fans come here every day looking for Niall's house - they also go to Tesco looking for his dad Bobby - so it would be great to have somewhere for them to go," he told the Sun.

The museum will focus on Horan's life - but will also include details about the lives of other musicians from the area.

Davitt said the One Direction man would be "the star of the show as our most famous son."

If work goes ahead, the museum is due to open in summer 2014, according to Digital Spy
