Miley Cyrus booted off the cover of Vogue?

Miley Cyrus apparently has been kicked off the cover of December Vogue in the wake of the controversy over her Aug. 25 performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The New York Daily News is reporting that Vogue editor Anna Wintour canceled the upcoming cover because of the performance.

Cyrus, who sang her hit "We Can't Stop" and was joined by Robin Thicke for a rendition of "Blurred Lines," danced with a foam finger, twerked with giant teddy bears and stripped to her underwear. That drew plenty of ire from viewers, fellow celebrities and media outlets.

The Daily Mail in London reported Saturday that Wintour had been eager to champion the 20-year-old “as a new fashion icon” but changed her mind “after witnessing the singer perform her overtly sexual routine in latex bra and knickers.”

“Anna found the whole thing distasteful,” the newspaper quoted one source as saying. “She decided, based on Miley’s performance, to take the cover in a different direction.”

A spokesman for Conde Nast, Vogue’s parent company, declined comment to TheWrap show business news website on Sunday.
