Selena Gomez talks love life, career, rumors: ‘I’m a human and I feel those emotions of when people talk about you’

Selena Gomez can't seem to get away from questions about her personal life.

While she's rising to the top of her musical career and looking towards a promising future in acting, her love life is often in the forefront.

"It does get to me. I'm a human and I feel those emotions of when people talk about you," the 21-year-old "Getaway" actress told The News. "It's never a good feeling cause half the time it's just bull, it's not real."

From rumors about her on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber to feuding with her best friend Taylor Swift about her dating choices, Gomez is constantly under the spotlight of speculations.

"In the real world I'll drive my car to the grocery store and buy myself some food," she said. "In the media world it's like, 'Oohhh, I drive my car to go somewhere secretive.' It gets too clouded so I just have good people around me."

With positive reinforcement by her side, the "Spring Breakers" actress is able to stay focused on her flourishing career.

In fact, she recently had a lot to celebrate musically when she bumped Jay Z from the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart with her "Stars Dance" album.

"It felt good, but I was still a little nervous because his following is very passionate and very committed," she confessed. "I did not think at all I'd get No. 1. It was such a crazy feeling and after four records having the fourth be No. 1 … it felt like I tried all styles of music and kept going until I got my sound."

As she steadily makes waves with her album and sold-out world tour of the same name, Gomez is also promoting her new film "Getaway" alongside Ethan Hawke, which hits theaters Aug. 30.

With her crazy-busy life it's a wonder how she'd ever even have time for herself, let alone date someone new.

"I'm very picky, though. I'm confident and I believe that you should have somebody who really does love you for who you are," she said of finding love. "That's the hardest part just trying to find someone that will just love the core person and not anything else around it."

In the meantime, the "Come & Get It" singer will continue on her journey through a successful career in music and film. But she'll also fit in some good eating when she has some downtime as Gomez admitted she enjoys cooking.

"I like to cook casseroles, cheesy potatoes, cheddar rice with chicken," she described. "It's just kind of stuff that's really not good for you. That's what I cook."

Still, Gomez manages to stay in great shape and is regarded as one of the industry's most beautiful women. So how does she keep her figure?

"Well now this tour is making me workout," she added after recent photos surfaced of her with two huge ice packs on each knee.

"I've just never danced this much in my life. We do 13 choreographed pieces for the show and I wanted to full out dance. Now I'm like, 'Why did I do this to myself?'"
