Miley Cyrus has revealed fellow singer Britney Spears is the one person in her life who 'gets' her.
The 20-year-old former Disney star - who started acting at age nine - admits adjusting to growing up in the spotlight has been difficult.
She claims that only Britney – who started her career on the Mickey Mouse Club at 11 – understands the pressure she is under.
Finding a kindred spirit in the 31-year-old mom-of-two, the pair, who have known each other for years, most recently connected via social media mecca Twitter last month.
'Loving your new video for #WeCantStop @MileyCyrus! Maybe you can teach me how to twerk sometime LOL ;) xo,' Brit tweeted her pal on June 20.
Clearly still a fan of the songstress's earlier work, she replied, '@britneyspears we could twerk it out in exchange for u teaching me da moves 2 "slave for you" (I've been practicing for the past 10 years).'
Fans will no doubt be hoping that this fun exchange could lead to a possible collaboration in the studio in the near future - something it seems Britney may not be opposed to.
'@MileyCyrus That's a deal im going to hold you 2,' was her eager response.
Opening up to The Huffington Post UK about her shared experience with her pal, the former Hannah Montana star says, 'Everyone goes through a time in their life where they don't want their picture taken every day. She just never had that time where she could say, "I'm going through something right now and need to shut down." I also don't have that, so it's good to have that one person in my life who gets it.'
Meanwhile, as Miley's engagement to Liam Hemsworth continues to be the subject of much speculation, with constant reports of fighting and splits, the star says Britney can relate to having her career overshadowed by her personal life.
Having been married twice herself and ending her engagement to Jason Trawick earlier this year, the star is all too familiar with the scenario.
As Miley reveals, 'I just think it's never blaming you or making you feel like, "You've got all this going for you." It's like she knows.
'Sometimes life just steps in the middle of your career the way life always does for anyone - it's just ours is a little more 24/7.'
