Zayn Malik apparently couldn't be happier for his girlfriend Perrie Edwards and the successful debut of Little Mix in the US, with the songstress admitting her boyfriend is “very proud” of the girl band.
The 'Wings' singers have proven themselves to be stiff competition with Zayn's boyband One Direction, after their debut album 'DNA' soared straight in at number four on the Billboard charts last week, beating the Spice Girls' first effort which peaked at number six in 1997.
While Zayn may be busy himself with One Direction on their 'Take Me Home' world tour, the heartthrob made sure to congratulate his girlfriend on her achievement with a phonecall.
“Yeah he's said he's very, very proud and he thinks we're smashing it,” Perrie told Capital FM.
“Yeah, it's really nice to know that he's proud of us,” she added.
Unfortunately for the smitten couple, it may be a while before they are reunited with one another as Little Mix jetted out of the US this week just as 1D arrived to continue their tour, narrowly missing each other.
Perrie, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirwell and Leigh-Anne Pinnock are now back in the UK where they will perform a series of shows including the Isle of Wight festival, while Zayn and his 1D bandmates have just kicked off their North American dates which will see them perform in Miami, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, to name a few.
