Taylor Swift joins Rolling Stones for duet

Pop star Taylor Swift joined The Rolling Stones on stage last night for a rendition of their ballad As Tears Go By on the Chicago leg of their 50 & Counting Tour.

Frontman Mick Jagger introduced the song as "one of the first that Keith [Richards] and I wrote. As Tears Go By was originally recorded by Jagger's then-girlfriend Marianne Faithfull, who had a Top 10 hit with the song in 1964. The Stones didn't perform it live until 2005.

Swift came onstage after Jagger had started singing, to the crowd's delight. Keen-eyed fans would have expected Swift, as Jagger tweeted ahead of the performance, saying: "Looking forward to singing with @taylorswift13 tonight! Wonder which song we will do?"

The 23-year-old singer isn't the only star to join the 50 & Counting tour: Lady Gaga, the Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Florence Welch and Tom Waits have also made guest appearances over the past few weeks.
