One Direction new album is 'shift in sound', says songwriter

One Direction's new album will be a 'shift in sound', songwriter Wayne Hector has revealed.

Hector, who has worked on the group's forthcoming third LP, also said it will have a "mature sound" and some "good surprises" on it.

"They've definitely gone for a more mature sound," he told Digital Spy. "It's still fun, but there are some really cool vibes coming from it.

"With this album, there's definitely a shift. I think it'll be really good. Hopefully there will be some good surprises on it. It's coming out at Christmas so we're almost finished on it."

Hector is credited with writing or co-writing 30 number ones, including songs for Westlife, Nicki Minaj, JLS and The Wanted.

One Direction recently teased that their new record has an "edgier" and "rockier" sound than their previous efforts.
