Justin Bieber is presumably very existential. He is practically our generation's Albert Camus. Inspired by photos from one of his recent concerts at the Staples Center, we were moved to write this poem expressing what we imagine he might have been thinking.
I peered into the heart of darkness,
And didn't like what I saw.
I had been searching for something.
Anything.
And found I was alone even in a crowded sea.
Sometimes I just don't know anymore.
Nothing looks good.
What is "swag" but a social construct?
What is a "baby" but a construct of the joining of female and male minds?
I just don't know.
I used to believe.
I used to think I could simply upgrade my world.
My World 2.0 forever.
But my world 3.0 never came.
Maybe someday I'll find what I'm looking for.
I'll never say never.
But as I stand here on this stage,
And look out into the adoring masses,
I wonder if there can truly be a beauty and a beat.
Am I Dorian Gray or the portrait?
I'll be OK.
I'll be alright.
I'm Justin Bieber.
I just need to figure out who Justin Bieber really is...
