Will Smith knows what it’s like to deal with the press and to be a young adult in the spotlight. It’s not easy! Will’s son, Jaden Smith, is close friends with Justin Bieber, which makes Justin feel like family to the Smith clan. Will tells Extra why he believes there is a war against young artists today, and why he will always have Justin’s back.
Will told Extra, “We think it is hugely important to support young artists, there is a war against that kind of artistry, that kind of creation.”
A father of young children himself, Will is directly connected to the pressures that young stars face today. He feels very strongly about how we should be treating young artists and how we should be more accepting of their mistakes.
Will continued, “When somebody is 19-years-old, they are going to do what they are going to do just like we did. For me, the most important thing was for him to know anytime he can call and I’ll come, whatever happens.” The former Fresh Prince of Bel Air star is standing up for Justin! He sees the Biebs struggling with bad press and is extending a helping hand to the singer.
Will is not the only one is his family standing up for the youngsters of Hollywood. Jada Pinkett Smith made headlines in March, when she spoke her mind in an essay she posted to Facebook. The essay was titled, “Are We Bullying Our Young Artists?” It appears that the Smith family is coming to the rescue of young stars. Way to go!
