Zayn Malik has admitted that having a relationship in the public eye can sometimes be ‘difficult’ for he and Perrie Edwards.
The One Direction hunk has been dating Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards since April of last year and since then they have faced more than their fair share of scandals and separation. Currently Perrie is in America, while Zayn is returning to his tour in the UK and even though he had some time off this week, her schedule prevented them from spending any time with one another.
Malik admitted that the distance and their careers do cause problems in he and Perrie’s relationship and told Heat magazine:
“I wouldn’t say it’s hard but obviously it has its difficulties.”
The Bradford bad boy added:
“You are away a lot of the time but I guess it’s just when you get back to them it means so much more, because when you have that time you want to make the most of it.”
The situation won’t change much any time soon and things aren’t set to get any easier for the couple, as even though Edwards will return to the UK very soon, next month Zayn will start the European leg of his tour before travelling to America, Canada, Asia, New Zealand and Australia later in the year.
Zayn says it helps that Perrie is ‘relaxed’ about their relationship and he praised her in another interview, telling Fabulous magazine:
“She’s just cool man. We both understand the job we’re in.”
The couple were recently rocked by a cheating scandal, in which newspapers claimed Zayn had slept with Australian waitress Courtney ‘CJ’ Webb while Perrie was on tour.
However Perrie claimed that she tries not to read or believe what is published in the tabloids and she told The Mirror:
“I try not to let what I read in the paper get to me. But I still read things and I think ‘That didn’t happen.’ But as long as me and the rest of the girls know it’s not true, that’s what matters. We laugh about things and refuse to let it get to us.”
She also insisted that despite their conflicting schedules, she and Zayn remain ‘best friends’ and try to spend as much time as possible with one another. She added:
“Zayn is my best friend and I’ve seen more of him since we finished our tour, but it’s hard as One Direction have been on tour as well.”
