One Direction fans flocked to Liam Payne’s dad’s home after a radio competition to find hidden concert tickets went completely wrong.
According to The Sun newspaper, around 100 frantic 1D fans descended on the property to have good hunt around in the garden after misreading several cryptic clues.
Liam’s dad Geoff told the tabloid: “I’m much better now that the competition is over."
“I’ve had people loitering around the house for days on end now. I’m glad someone won it. There have been people hiding round corners looking for them.”
Eventually the pair of tickets for the boyband’s gig in Birmingham were located taped to the back of a sign nearby in Wolverhampton.
The radio station broadcasted six clues for fans to help them track down the tickets including, “they are close to somewhere beautiful” and “could have been an ancient burial site”.
However, some felt the obvious place to look was at Liam’s parent’s house. DJs Nigel Freshman and Cat James from Free Radio apologised “wholeheartedly” to Liam's dad for the confusion.
“The fans were in Liam’s family’s front garden for quite a while," a source said.
Adding: “His dad rang the show to say he was relieved the competition was over as fans were mooching around the lawn. Geoff saw the funny side of it, thankfully.”
