Irish 'X Factor' stars Niall Horan and Jedward celebrate St. Patrick's Day

Irish "X Factor" stars Niall Horan of One Direction and twin brothers Jedward spent St. Patrick's Day this year (March 17, 2013) doing public appearances.

One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Jedward (the stage name for John and Edward Grimes) came in sixth place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2009.

On St. Patrick's Day 2013, Horan (who is 19) performed a sold-out show with One Direction at the Liverpool Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. One Direction is currently on a 2013 world tour that will have the group doing concerts in Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Horan tweeted on March 17, 2013: "Yesssssss ! Happy paddys day! @jackwhitehall told me not to drink too many guiness it makes ur poo wierd ! Yess ! Irish women's rugby team won the grand slam on paddys day! Sick! Well done ladies."

Meanwhile, Jedward participated in Toronto's St. Patrick's Day parade. The Jedward twins (who are 21) spent the week in Toronto doing other promotional appearances, such as interviews on "Etalk," MuchMusic, "Canada AM" and "The Marilyn Denis Show."

Jedward tweeted on March 17, 2013: "Happy St.Patrick's Day from John and Edward. Green the Colour of Ireland the Colour of St. Patrick's Day and the Colour of John and Edward's Eyes!"

Things haven't been going so well for Mary Byrne, the Irish singer who came in fifth place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. After her stint on "The X Factor," she's had two albums ("Mine & Yours" and " ...With Love") and a memoir ("This Is My Life") that were hits in Ireland. She also performed for Queen Elizabeth II when the queen was in Dublin in 2011. However, Byrne (who is 53) admitted in a March 2013 interview with "Newstalk’s" George Hook: “I’m worried about the next cheque…. I constantly worry that I won’t have enough to keep me going. I haven’t earned anything since last November. I haven’t done anything because I was changing management.”

Byrne is set to perform at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on May 4, 2013. Phil Coulter is also on the bill for the concert. Byrne is also working on her third album and she has becoming part of a public-service campaign for ARAN to fight animal abuse in Ireland.

On March 17, 2013, she posted generic messages on Twitter and Facebook., She tweeted: "Happy St Patricks Day :-)" And on Facebook, she posted: "Happy St Patrick's Day .....hope you all have a great day!!! Mary x"

"The X Factor" U.K. judge Louis Walsh is also Irish. He is not on Twitter, Facebook or any social media, despite saying in interviews that he would join Twitter by October 2012. Walsh was Jedward's "X Factor" mentor, and he has been Jedward's manager since late 2009.
