We're used to writing about their ever-changing love lives and slightly weird and incestual bromance.
But in more charitable news, One Direction made the ‘life changing’ trip to Ghana as part of their work for Red Nose Day recently.
The young singers spent the weekend in poverty stricken region Accra and were overwhelmed by what they saw.
To be fair, if you’re a world famous boyband who visit glamorous cities and stay in five star hotels then a charity visit to the ‘slums’ of Africa is always going to be a shock.
They are recording a cover of Blondie’s single One Way or Another to raise money for the annual event and it’s believed they made video diaries on their trip.
Obviously humbled, singer Harry Styles tweeted: ‘Today was the most amazing day I've had so far.. In my life ever,’ before adding: ‘@rednoseday Thank you so much for having us. It was amazing and we'll see you soon xx.’
Niall Horan added a string of Twitter messages and told one fan that the visit ‘changed my life’.
He wrote: ‘Just arrived back from Accra,Ghana! Best life experience ever! This @rednoseday please get involved!!’ he wrote.
‘Watch comic relief this @rednoseday, you are in for a shock and eye opener ! and fun too.’
The Irish singer continued: ‘I've seen the slums right in front of me! This is no joke! They really need your help! Poverty is real!’
In a direct message to a fan, he explained: ‘We all are the most selfish people ever! U would not believe that country.’
We’ll ignore the fact that sentence could have been written in crayons by a toddler because he’s done a bit of charity work.
Plus, he's probably still buzzing after passing his driving test so we'll let Niall have his moment.
At least we all know that 1D have a few quid in the bank to make a donation when Red Nose Day is broadcast on March 15th.
