Taylor Swift is courting her fellow pop star Harry Styles, but the actor Eddie Redmayne is keen to deny rumours that he once enjoyed a relationship with the American.
“It was absolute nonsense,” the Old Etonian says of the alleged romance, which was said to take place last year after they met auditioning for the Les Misérables film.
He says she then invited herself to a play he was in. “We had a chat behind the stage for seven minutes,” he tells Glamour magazine. “Even by my standards, that’s a pretty brief relationship!”
Sir Mick Jagger had few more doughty defenders than Lord Rees-Mogg, when, in 1967, the donnish newspaper editor expressed his dismay that the pop star had been given a three-month jail sentence for a drugs offence.
An unlikely friendship developed between the two, but, for all that, a spokesman tells me that the wrinkly rocker will not be attending Rees-Mogg’s mass and memorial service at Westminster Cathedral next week.
Little, if anything, can tempt Jagger to abandon his annual Caribbean sojourn.
