One Direction have cemented themselves as bonafide phenomenons in the American music market.
The X Factor finalists have received generally positive reviews after playing at the fabled venue of Madison Square Garden.
With a sold out audience of screaming young girls, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne couldn't believe where their journey had taken them.
Liam Payne told the loud crowd: 'This is the biggest night of our lives. You guys have travelled from all around the world and we cannot believe what has happened here tonight. Thank you so much.'
Bloggers and professional music journalists alike were in agreement that there was something magical and different about One Direction.
The New York Daily News said: 'The screams were louder than a jet engine, with a pitch higher than a banshee’s wail.
'Despite the event’s significance, a certain casualness informed the staging.
'Unlike boy bands of the past, these guys aren’t rigidly choreographed in concert, an appealing aspect. They jump and stroll rather than dance.'
A reviewer from Entertainment Weekly said: 'At one point a teen behind me screamed her brains out and then shrieked, 'I don’t even know why I’m screaming!!!'
'I didn’t know either. One Direction was not scheduled to take the stage for another hour.'
The sheer mania that has engulfed teens across America was solidified at their Monday night concert with 20,000 fans joined in unison.
Examiner.com wrote: 'The show had great production and most importantly, had the crowd extremely content.'
Hollywoodlife.com were also big fans of the British boys and said: 'The guys sounded amazing while singing their hits including, I Wish, Gotta Be You, and More Than This.
'It was obvious that America wasn’t the only country represented last night, with flags from Brazil, Japan, Italy and many more countries being waved in the air throughout the show.'
