One Direction star Zayn Malik has been left "sickened" by Twitter trolls who left abusive messages about his sister on the site.
According to The Daily Star Sunday, the pop star's ten-year-old sister Safaa became the target of the bullies on the site who wrote that she was suffering from cancer, while others also reportedly claimed that Zayn, 19, and his older sister Doniya, 20, have different fathers.
Zayn told Safaa and Doniya to ignore the abuse but the girls have been forced to take to their Twitter pages - which are followed by thousands of One Direction fans - to defend themselves.
Safaa told her 45,000 followers: "Sorry I haven’t been that nice to anyone:/ I was just a bit angry how people made FAKE rumors saying I have cancer when I don’t! Sorry x"
This was in response to a message aimed at her which read: "Guys I just heard the best news ever that Zayn’s retarded Muslim sister has cancer, excuse me while I dance."
And according to the newspaper, Doniya had to take to her page after a woman, who claimed to be a distant relative of her father Yaser, said Doniya and Zayn have different dads.
She wrote: "I can assure u we have the same dad and hu Eva is telling u this pathetic things is a very sad person."
Zayn's family still live in his hometown of Bradford, in West Yorkshire and the pop star is believed to have told his friends that he is worried that his sisters have become targets because of his fame.
A friend told the paper: "Zayn is sickened that people could write such horrible things about his sisters and his mum and dad. He is not bothered about people saying things about him but for someone to write that a little girl has cancer just for the fun of it is totally obscene.
"Equally, for someone who is a distant relative to bring the honour of his mother and father into disrepute and claim he and his sister have different dads is offensive. His parents have been inseparable for years and the claims are just lies."
