It was a scary few days there when it looked like Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber ended their teen dream forever, and while things aren't exactly back to being perfect between the young lovebirds, it seems like they're at least trying to work things out. And one of the driving forces behind their tentative reunion? None other than the world's No. 1 romantic daydreamer, Taylor Swift.
According to reports, 20-year-old "Spring Breakers" star Gomez ended her relationship with the 18-year-old "Believe" singer because of the stress of being in the public eye, not because of any problems between the couple. All it took was some real-talk from Gomez's bestie Swift to smack some sense into her.
"When Selena hung out with Taylor she was really stressed out and frazzled about everything with Justin," a source told RadarOnline. "But Taylor reminded her how crazy Justin is over her and to just try to stay above the fray."
This is exactly the kind of advice a 20-something girl should be getting from her best friend in a time of need, so good on you, Taylor. But we are, after all, talking about a 22-year-old songstress who specializes catchy breakup songs, and who currently has one of the most infamous dating track records in Hollywood. Should Swift really be doling out relationship advice?
Swift has a notoriously long list of exes, all of which were pretty short-lived. According to Wikipedia, her relationships with Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gylenhaal, and Conor Kennedy all lasted only three or four months. The fact that Gomez and Bieber have been dating over two years must seem monumental to her. After two years, Swift would probably be looking into buying real estate just to be closer to her beau. Oh, wait -- she already did that. Twice.
And while she praises Bieber for fawning over his girlfriend, Swift herself told Parade magazine that she's after a bad boy.
"There's a really interesting charisma involved. They usually have a lot to say, and even if they don't, they know how to look at you to say it all," she said. "I think every girl's dream is to find a bad boy at the right time, when he wants to not be bad anymore."
Let us give you some best friend advice, Taylor: trying to save a bad boy hardly ever, ever works out in the end. Maybe you should follow your own advice, and choose a guy who's crazy for you, too. Hmm?
